NEWS RELEASE
SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE SERVICE
*************************
On Monday, May 23, 2022, at approximately  9:20 p.m., the South Simcoe Police Service was called to an address in the Town of Innisfil for a domestic-related threatening incident.

The caller reported that her son had assaulted her and her husband and was threatening them with knives and a gun. When officers arrived they could hear loud yelling coming from the home and could see a male inside with a shotgun at his feet. Fearing for the safety of the parents, officers entered the home and confronted the male as he attempted to pick up the shotgun.

A Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW/Taser) was deployed, causing the male to drop the gun and allowed officers to safely place him under arrest.  Thankfully nobody was hurt.

A 34-year-old Innisfil man faces 13 charges, including Utter Threats, Assault with a Weapon, Careless Use of a Firearm and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.

He was held for a bail hearing. Due to the domestic nature of the call, the man's name will not be released.
