Man charged with speeding after clocking in at 123 in an 80 km/h zone

Police detected a strong odour of alcohol on his breath and brought him to the South Division for further testing

INNISFIL - A 26-year-old Chatsworth man is charged with speeding and driving while under suspension following a traffic stop in Innisfil. On Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at 4:15 p.m., police were conducting speed enforcement on 5th Sideroad when an officer observed a vehicle travelling southbound at a high rate of speed. 

A speed measurement of 123 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone was obtained. Police spoke to the driver and detected a strong odour of alcohol. After a fail was registered on a roadside screening test, the driver was arrested and transported to the South Division for further testing.  

As a result, he was served a 7 day driver's licence suspension due to a previous warn range suspension. He was charged with speeding and driving with a suspended licence. His driver's licence was seized and his vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.
