Man found dead by dog walker on trail near Seneca's King campus

Death deemed suspicious, homicide unit now investigating, York Regional Police say

A person out walking their dog found a deceased man along a trail north-west of Seneca Polytechnic's King campus.

Police say the circumstances around the death have been deemed suspicious, and the homicide unit is now investigating.

The discovery was made Saturday morning. Police said they received a call around 7:50 a.m.

The campus is in the area of Dufferin Street and 15th Sideroad.

Attending officers confirmed the discovery of an unidentified male’s body.  

The victim’s identity and cause of death have yet to be determined.

A post-mortem examination is expected to take place in the coming days, York Regional Police said in a news release.

Meanwhile, officers will be active in the area, canvassing for witnesses and looking for evidence, police said.

Investigators are appealing to any witnesses, or anyone with information about this incident, or anyone with dashcam or video surveillance in the area, to contact police.
