Man wanted after $500 in meat stolen from East Gwillimbury grocery store

The suspect dropped the goods and fled when approached by loss prevention officers, Crime Stoppers says

Crime Stoppers of York Region released an image of the suspect from May 8.

York Regional Police is asking for help identifying a suspect in connection with a theft at the East Gwillimbury/Newmarket Real Canadian Superstore in early May.

A man picked up bags of milk, Red Bull, and $521 worth of meat products on Saturday, May 8 at about 5 p.m., and left the store without paying, according to Crime Stoppers of York Region’s Crime of the Week.

When the suspect was approached by loss prevention officers in the parking lot, he dropped the stolen goods and ran away.

Video surveillance from the Superstore at 18120 Yonge St. captured the man, who was wearing a dark jacket with white and grey camouflage print, dark jeans, and a multi-coloured face mask.

He is described as white, aged 40 to 45, with a thin build, and shaggy brown hair.
