INNISFIL - A 34-year-old North York man is charged with criminal harassment after an investigation was launched on Wednesday, March 13, 2019.

The investigation revealed unwelcome and repetitive conduct of a man with a former spouse who lives in Innisfil. The man was arrested and charged on Thursday, March 14, 2019. He was released with conditions and a future court date. Police assisted the victim with a safety plan and other community resources.

The Canadian Criminal Code defines criminal harassment as:

  • Repeatedly following from place to place the other person or anyone known to them
  • Repeatedly communicating with, either directly or indirectly, the other person or anyone known to them
  • Besetting or watching the dwelling-house, or place where the other person, or anyone known to them, resides, works, carries on business or happens to be
  • Engaging in threatening conduct directed at the other person or member of their family.
