Members of the Nottawasaga detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) will be participating in the Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) event, taking place on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023 in Alliston, New Tecumseth.

Together, with thousands of Canadians across the country, Nottawasaga OPP members will be walking and fundraising to support hungry, homeless, and hurting people and families in our community. Nottawasaga OPP is supporting our local community partner, SHIFT (Support and Hope for Individuals and Families Today), which is a non-profit organization located in Alliston that provides safe, respectful, and welcoming emergency overnight accommodation, meals and supports to those experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness and/or food insecurity.

The CNOY is SHIFT’s largest annual fundraising event and it is a family-friendly walk (two or five kilometres) where folks team up, fundraise, walk, and gather to raise awareness. All proceeds raised directly benefit SHIFT, which runs three vital programs, including outreach program, daytime drop-in program, and emergency overnight shelter program.

Team “NottyOPP” will be participating in the walk, commencing registration at 4:30 p.m. and stepping off on the walk at 5 p.m., from the Alliston Memorial Arena, located at 49 Nelson St. W., Alliston, New Tecumseth.

For more information on how you can participate in this family-friendly walk-a-thon or to donate to this event, please visit cnoy.org/alliston.
