Man accused of fleeing on foot from police during traffic stop

South Simcoe Police Service officers have laid several charges including obstruct police after a driver ran from a vehicle stop.

On Monday, Sept. 16, 2019, around 9 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the 7th Line in Bradford after observing a vehicle with an expired licence plate sticker.

The driver [allegedly] exited the vehicle and fled on foot through a field. Open liquor was [allegedly] located in the vehicle and investigation revealed the driver's licence was suspended.

Information received led South Simcoe Police Service officers along with members of the Ontario Provincial Police to a property in Tottenham where the man was taken into custody.  

A 23-year-old New Tecumseth man was charged with obstruct police and several other offences including drive under suspension and liquor readily available.  

He was released from South Simcoe Police Service custody with a court date in October.
