Off-duty officer spots driver who shouldn't be driving

The accused was disqualified due to a previous conviction on a drinking and driving-related criminal offence

On May 3, 2018 around 3:30 p.m., an off-duty police officer called South Simcoe Police Service to report a disqualified driver the officer spotted operating a motor vehicle. The off-duty officer had observed the man driving out of a parking lot on Holland Street West in Bradford. When police arrived, the suspect vehicle was no longer in the area.

Officers went to the man's home and shortly after the suspect arrived but was now in the passenger seat and another man was behind the wheel. Based on the off-duty officer's observations, the 23-year-old Bradford man was placed under arrest. He was charged with operation while disqualified due to a previous conviction on a drinking and driving-related criminal offence.

The man was released on a Promise To Appear in Bradford Criminal Court.
