Seven suspects distract lone convenience store employee to steal cash

INNISFIL - South Simcoe Police Service officers are appealing for the public's help to solve a distraction theft at a Cookstown convenience store.

On Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018 around 4:30 p.m., police were called to a store on King St. South in Cookstown for a report of a theft. Once on scene, officers learned that seven suspects entered the store and distracted the lone employee.

While that was occurring, one suspect went into a back room and removed a quantity of cash. The entire incident lasted four minutes.

The suspects were two men and five women who left the scene in a white minivan. The employee did not discover the theft until later that evening.

Investigators are releasing security camera images in a bid to identify the suspects - two men and three women. They left the scene in a white minivan.
