Police dog locates domestic suspect

INNISFIL - Police Service dog "Nitro" has tracked down yet another wanted person.

On Sunday, June 23 around 1 a.m., North Division officers were called to an Alcona home for a domestic dispute. A male and female had become involved in a heated argument that escalated when the male assaulted the woman.  

The suspect fled into a wooded area near the home before police arrived. With the assistance of the Canine Unit, he was found hiding and arrested.

A 27-year-old Innisfil man has been charged with assault. He was released on a promise to appear with conditions to stay away from the victim.

The victim was not physically hurt in the altercation.
