Police find vehicle rolled over in ditch after citizen reports erratic driving

INNISFIL - On Monday, Aug. 10, 2020 just before 6 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers were called to Sideroad 20 and Line 14 in Innisfil for a vehicle rollover with a suspected impaired driver.

When police arrived, they learned that a vehicle was driving erratically, lost control, and rolled over onto its roof in the ditch.

The female driver was arrested for impaired driving. She had minor injuries and was assessed and released by paramedics on the scene. Police transported her to South Division where breath test results were over the legal limit.

Twenty-six-year-old Laura MacDonald of Barrie was charged with impaired operation, over 80, and dangerous operation. Her license was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle impounded for seven days.

Thank you to the citizen who called us about this incident. Impaired driving is a crime in progress. Residents are encouraged to call 911 when they see someone they believe may be driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs. Together, we can make a difference in road safety and help everyone arrive alive.
