On Monday, March 18, 2019, around 9:00 a.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to a report of a missing vulnerable person in Innisfil. The person has dementia and other medical issues.

Officers fanned out to search and thankfully the person was located in good health about two hours later.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind our citizens that Project Lifesaver Simcoe is now in our policing area. Project Lifesaver Simcoe is a tracking tool that uses as FM frequency to assist police in the search for missing vulnerable persons who tend to wander.

The monitoring device, worn as a bracelet, transmits a signal that is heard by receivers used by specially trained South Simcoe Police Service officers. The receivers can be used by police in vehicles, attached to a drone or carried on foot.

In order to be eligible for the program, participants must be registered with the South Simcoe Police Service Vulnerable Persons Registry. For more information visit our website https://southsimcoepolice.on.ca/ and https://www.projectlifesaversimcoe.ca/.
