Police seek witnesses following shooting in East Gwillimbury

Investigators with the York Regional Police #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking witnesses following a shooting that occurred in the Town of East Gwillimbury.

On Friday, March 5, 2021, shortly after 9 p.m., York Regional Police was called to a residence on Beebalm Lane, which is in the area of Highway 11 and Dog Wood Blvd., for a report of shots fired. Officers arrived and spoke to the victim, a 45-year-old male from the Town of East Gwillimbury, who was not physically injured. Officers located shell casings, as well a bullet hole a in the victim’s vehicle.

Investigators believe that two suspects attended the location driving a black, four-door sedan with tinted windows. One of the suspects fired shots at the victim’s vehicle and they fled from the scene. Investigators believe this was a targeted incident, but residents can expect an increased police presence in the area.

Investigators continue to appeal for any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police to come forward, as well as anyone with residential video surveillance or dashcam footage from the area at the time.
