TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH, ADJALA-TOSORONTIO & ESSA TOWNSHIPS – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is proud to support Victims and Survivors of Crime Week, which runs May 25-29, 2020.  

The Victims and Survivors of Crime Week is an annual outreach initiative of the Justice Canada Policy Centre for Victim Issues (PCVI). Its goal is to raise awareness about the issues facing victims and survivors and about the services, assistance and laws in place to help victims, survivors, and their families. The week is also a time to acknowledge the work of service providers and their dedication to assisting victims and survivors of crime and their families.

There are resources available for members in our community who need support: 

  • 211 Ontario can help you navigate through a network of social services quickly and easily. Visit 211ontario.ca or call 2-1-1.  
  • York Support Services Network will connect you to a crisis worker at any time. The crisis worker will provide an immediate telephone/text response in a variety of situations, such as if you are feeling depressed, distressed, lonely, anxious, scared, angry or are worried that you have nowhere to go. Call 1-855-310-COPE (2673) or (TTY) 1-866-323-7785
  • My Sister's Place is a not-for-profit organization that provides residential and outreach services for Women and their children living with the consequences of violence and abuse. Crisis Hotline: 705-435-3835. Toll Free: 1-800-461-5419 
  • The Ontario Network of Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Treatment Centres (ONSA/DVTC) has established a 24/7 nurse-staffed telephone navigation line to assist service providers and victims/survivors of sexual assault and intimate partner violence during COVID-19. A hotline has been established to increase access to services across the province, through the provision of information, resources, care, support, and navigation to Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Treatment Centres. Call 1-855-NAV-SADV (1-855-628-7238).
