TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH, ADJALA-TOSORONTIO AND ESSA TOWNSHIPS - Members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fire at a local restaurant in Alliston, New Tecumseth.

On May 29, 2022 at approximately 10:27 p.m., police received a call from the New Tecumseth Fire Department to assist with a fire at a local restaurant on Young Street in Alliston.

On police arrival, the fire was already contained by New Tecumseth Fire.

The business was vacant at the time of arrival and therefore no injuries have been reported. The extent and cost of damage is unknown at this time. No damage to neighbouring businesses have been reported.

The Ontario Fire Marshal's office has been notified and is expected to attend today. The scene continues to be held by police as the investigation continues.

Police are looking to speak with any witnesses that may have been in the area at the time of the incident. Anyone with information regarding the incident, is asked to contact the Nottawasaga OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
