NEWS RELEASE
SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE SERVICE
*************************
On the evening of Thursday, Nov. 24, 2022, South Simcoe Police Service officers were conducting Festive RIDE enforcement at the intersection of Canal Road and Simcoe Road in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.

As a result of a RIDE stop, (a) 36-year-old ... of Bradford was charged with operation while prohibited. His vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

As a result of another RIDE stop, a 30-year-old Bradford man was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with drive motor vehicle without an ignition interlock device and fail to surrender licence. His vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Impaired driving remains the leading criminal cause of death in Canada. Police in Ontario are especially concerned that, according to Mothers Against Drunk Driving Canada, the impaired driving rate increased by 7.1 per cent in 2021 after two years of decline. If you drink or consume drugs, plan not to drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, arrange for a ride service, take public transit or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture.
