Spot check leads to impaired charge for Bradford driver

The driver was charges with impaired driving by drug. It subsequently led to the driver having his licence suspended for 90 days and his vehicle being impounded for 90 days

A 22-year-old Bradford man is charged with drug-impaired driving following a R.I.D.E spot check in Bradford. On Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 11:50 p.m., officers approached a vehicle that had stopped at the R.I.D.E. program being conducted at Highway 400 and 5th Line.

When speaking with the driver, police detected a strong odour of cannabis and observed signs of impairment. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to South Division. A Drug Recognition Expert officer conducted a drug evaluation test which resulted in the driver being charged with impaired driving by drug.

His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.
