Three separate incidents see drivers face impaired charges

Two drivers face charges of drug impairment while a third is facing an alcohol impairment charge

A 56-year-old Cookstown man is facing drug impaired driving and drug charges following a traffic stop in Bradford.

On Wednesday, June 12, 2019 around 1:30 a.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at a parking lot on Holland Street West and 10th Sideroad. Officers detected signs of impairment and placed the driver under arrest.

A 56-year-old Cookstown man was subsequently charged with several offences including drug impaired driving and possession of suspected heroin. He was released with a future court date. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

A 37-year-old Victoria Harbour man is charged with drug impaired driving after police were called to a two-vehicle collision.

On Monday, June 10, 2019 around 5 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers were dispatched to the 9th Line in Innisfil after a rear-end collision. No one was injured. When speaking with one of the drivers, police detected an odour of cannabis. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to South Division.

As a result of further testing, a 37-year-old Victoria Harbour man was charged with drug impaired driving. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days. He was released with a future court date.

INNISFIL - A 42-year-old Innisfil man is charged with impaired and dangerous driving after a citizen called to report a suspected impaired driver.

On Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at 12:08 a.m., police received a call regarding a vehicle driving erratically on Yonge Street and County Road 89. An officer detected an odour of alcohol during a traffic stop. The driver was placed under arrest after a fail was registered on a roadside screening device test. Further testing conducted at North Division resulted in readings of well over the legal limit of alcohol.

A 42-year-old Innisfil man was charged with Over 80, Impaired Driving, Dangerous Driving and Driving While Under Suspension. He was released with a future court date. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded.
