INNISFIL - A 32-year-old Bradford man was charged with several offences after police conducted a vehicle stop in Innisfil.

On Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020 around 10 a.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer conducting speed enforcement on Yonge Street observed a vehicle pass one vehicle then another at a high rate of speed. At the time, roads were snow and ice covered with blowing snow and a temperature of minus 14.

A speed measurement was obtained of 133 km/h in the posted 80 km/h zone. The officer conducted a traffic stop and as a result, a 32-year-old Bradford man was charged with speeding, stunt driving and cannabis readily available.

Both drivers charged with stunt driving received immediate seven-day licence suspensions and seven-day vehicle impoundment at roadside. The minimum fine for a stunt driving conviction is $2,000. Courts can impose a licence suspension of up to two years and a possible jail term of up to six months.

Winter weather requires drivers to reduce their speed to maintain road safety, not go dangerously well over the speed limit.  Go slow, leave extra stopping distance and use full headlights. Please arrive alive and avoid preventable collisions.
