*************************
South Simcoe Police Service officers have charged two people with stunt driving in less than 24 hours

On Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020, around 10 a.m., a 29-year-old Angus man was charged with speeding and stunt driving after an officer stopped a vehicle travelling 150 km/h in a posted 80 zone on Yonge Street in Innisfil. The driver was also charged with expired validation.

Less than 24 hours earlier, a 24-year-old Barrie man was charged with stunt driving and speeding after a vehicle was clocked travelling 52 kilometres over the posted speed limit on 5th Sideroad in Innisfil around 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, 2020.

A stunt driving charge carries an immediate, seven-day roadside licence suspension and a seven-day impoundment of your vehicle. If convicted, penalties include fines from $2,000 to $10,000, six demerit points and possible jail up to six months.

These types of speeds are excessive, dangerous and completely unnecessary. Our officers are doing pro-active patrols to keep our roads safe for everyone. Slow down and arrive alive.
