INNISFIL - A 32-year-old Innisfil man has been charged following a traffic stop of a snowmobile in Innisfil.

On Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019 at 4:45 p.m. South Simcoe Police Service officers observed a snowmobile travelling erratically and at a high rate of speed on Anna Maria Avenue in Innisfil.

Police conducted a traffic stop and made a demand for a road-side breath test. The driver provided a suitable sample of breath into the approved screening device resulting in a caution.

Police say the driver has a "terrible driving record involving alcohol and has never had a driver's licence of any class."

A 32-year-old Innisfil man was served a 30-day licence suspension. He was charged with careless driving and not having a licence.

Even though the suspect does not have a driver's licence, a South Simcoe police official tells BarrieToday that it's part of the administrative process and becomes part of the driving history. Because it goes on the driver's record, it also prevents them from getting a licence and will have a future impact on insurance, if he obtains insurance.

The snowmobile was impounded for seven days.
