INNISFIL - On Aug. 31, 2018 just before midnight, South Simcoe Police Service officers were called to the 5th Sideroad between the 7th Line and Innisfil Beach Road in Innisfil for a report of a single vehicle collision.

The caller told police that the vehicle was on its side. When police arrived, they spoke with the driver and detected an odour of alcohol. A roadside breath test led to the driver being taken to the North Division for further testing. Due to those readings, a 30-year-old Beeton woman was charged with over 80 and impaired driving. Her licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle impounded.

The driver and her female passenger declined hospital treatment and were checked on scene by paramedics.

This collision could have had a very tragic outcome. Road safety is a shared responsibility and it's critical we all work together. Drive sober, put down the phone and obey posted speed limits.
