Vehicle gets stuck in snow and leads to impaired charge

INNISFIL - A vehicle that was stuck in the snow has led to Impaired Driving and Over 80 charges against a 48-year-old Barrie man.

On Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, around 12:30 a.m., a citizen called police to report a suspected impaired driver on a street in the 20th Sideroad and Big Bay Point area of Innisfil. The caller said a truck had become stuck on the street while trying to get up a snow-covered hill.

Once on scene, officers spoke to the driver of the truck and detected an odour of alcohol and signs of impairment. The man was arrested for impaired driving and transported to North Division.

Breath tests resulted in readings of nearly three times the legal limit of alcohol. The man was charged with Impaired Care or Control and Over 80. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.
