Victim identified in Saturday's fatal motorcycle crash

The driver of the motorcycle died at the scene while further investigation led to an impaired charge and a dangerous driving charge for one of the other drivers in the three-vehicle collision

 A Holland Landing woman has been charged with impaired driving causing death and dangerous driving causing death after a motorcyclist was struck and killed in Bradford.

On Saturday, May 16, 2020, around 5:30 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers were called to a three-vehicle collision on Yonge Street north of the 9th Line.

The investigation has determined that a white Hyundai Veloster travelling northbound, struck a black Audi SUV travelling southbound.  A secondary collision then occurred involving the white Hyundai and a blue Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle died at the scene. He has been identified as 35-year-old Sean McDonnell of East Gwillimbury.

The driver of the Hyundai was taken to hospital with minor injuries. Further investigation at the hospital resulted in the driver, 37-year-old Jolene Freire of Holland Landing, being arrested and charged with Impaired Driving Causing Death and Dangerous Driving Causing Death.

Investigators are appealing for any witnesses who may have any information, observed any of these vehicles or have dashcam footage while on Yonge Street between 5:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to contact Constable Ashley Fairbarn at 705-436-2141 or 905-775-3311 ext. 2034, to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS or on-line at www.1800222tips.com.

The collision caused the closure of Yonge Street in Bradford for five hours while Traffic Unit officers conducted an investigation. The road was reopened at 10:40 p.m.
