Young cyclist airlifted to Toronto hospital after crash with pick-up

The 11-year-old boy suffered serious injuries; Police say investigation is ongoing and they are looking for witnesses

TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH, ADJALA-TOSORONTIO & ESSA TOWNSHIPS – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a collision involving a pick-up truck and a cyclist in Angus, Essa Township.

On Thursday, June 4, 2020, at approximately 8:30 p.m., a member of the Nottawasaga OPP was on patrol in the area of Elizabeth Street and Simcoe Street when the officer noticed a large gathering of people.

The officer attended the area and located an 11-year-old male with serious injuries. Simcoe County Paramedics Services attended and transported the child to a local hospital before he was air-lifted to a Toronto-area hospital by Ornge air ambulance.

The driver of the pick-up truck did not sustain any injuries.

Traffic Collision Investigators (TCI) attended the location to investigate. The investigation is ongoing and an update will be provided when available.
