PROCLAMATION: Emergency Preparedness Week - May 2-8, 2021

WHEREAS:
Emergency Preparedness Week is a national awareness initiative that has taken place annually since 1996. It is an opportunity to encourage Canadians to take concrete actions to be better prepared to protect themselves and their families during emergencies; and

WHEREAS:
The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury recognizes the importance of Emergency Management in Ontario and the role of government to help secure a strong and healthy tomorrow; and

WHEREAS:
While governments at all levels are working hard to keep Canada safe, everyone has a role to play in being prepared for an emergency. Being prepared means having the knowledge and equipment necessary to better cope during an emergency; and

WHEREAS:
The three tenets of Emergency Preparedness are: know the risks; make a plan; get a kit. Residents of BWG can find information on each of these steps on either the Town website at www.townofbwg.com/EmergencyPrepor on the federal government website at www.getprepared.ca.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
That His Worship Mayor Rob Keffer and Members of Council proclaim the week of May 2-8, 2021 as EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS WEEK in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.
