The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury is celebrating Trails Day during the whole month of June. Residents can participate in Trails Month by completing a socially distanced guided hike any time during the month of June. Using the phone application GooseChase, residents are encouraged to visit Scanlon Creek and take part in the self-guided hike created in partnership with the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority.
Residents will be able to go through missions on the app GooseChase for a chance to win prizes. Download the GooseChase app on your phone and join the Trails Month Self-Guided Hike game by entering the game code 4XZKXQ.
In order to be entered in a draw to receive a prize, you must create an account. Participants who accumulate a minimum of 2500 points by completing missions will be entered into a draw to win one of five $50 gift cards from a local BWG restaurant of their choosing. Contest is open to BWG residents only.
This is a great opportunity to explore Scanlon Creek Conservation Area, which offers diverse hiking trails, covered picnic pavilions, an off-leash dog park, a playground, and unique lookout points for birders and photographers. There are five different trails that vary in difficulty and terrain, such as a boardwalk through the marsh, where you can see wildlife including ducks, herons and beavers. Scanlon Creek offers a wide variety of forests, wetlands, meadows, and wildlife, and it’s only a 10-minute drive from the centre of town. When visiting Scanlon Creek, please ensure you are following social distancing guidelines and maintain 2 metres from others. Please only visit and hike with members from your own household.
