Proclamation: EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS WEEK - May 5-11, 2019
Emergency Preparedness Week is a national awareness initiative that has taken place annually since 1996. It is an opportunity to encourage Canadians to take concrete actions to be better prepared to protect themselves and their families during emergencies; and
The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury recognizes the importance of Emergency Management in Ontario and the role of government to help secure a strong and healthy tomorrow; and
While governments at all levels are working hard to keep Canada safe, everyone has a role to play in being prepared for an emergency. Being prepared means having the knowledge and equipment necessary to better cope during an emergency; and
This year’s theme is “Be Emergency Ready”. There are many ways to “Be Emergency Ready” including:
- Get prepared – know the risks, make a plan, get a kit
- Take steps to protect your property from the most common natural disaster in Canada – floods
- Sign up for alerts and get the Be Ready app.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
That His Worship Mayor Rob Keffer and Members of Council proclaim the week of May 5-11, 2019 as EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS WEEK in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.
