Have you signed up for Beanstack yet?

Beanstack is a platform for all ages that allows you to track your reading. It’ss easy to use – you can use your home computer or download the app and track your reading on your mobile device. Visit and sign up.

Once you have signed up, you can participate in any of the Library’s challenges. Our upcoming challenge is “Fall into Reading”. It’s a six-week challenge designed to help you enjoy the season and relax and enjoy books. It encourages participants to set aside a few minutes every day to read and perhaps try a few activities to reduce stress and have fun.

Research has shown that reading is more effective at reducing stress than listening to music, sipping tea or taking a walk. In fact, stress levels have been shown to be reduced by as much as 68 percent after reading. Only six minutes of reading can slow down the heart rate and improve overall health!

The “Fall into Reading” challenge begins October 18 and runs until November 30. You can sign up at any time. Anyone who logs 22 hours of reading (an average of 30 minutes per day) by November 30 will receive a free book.

The BWG Library will be offering more reading challenges throughout the year. If you have a young child, check out Thursday’s article for details on our “1000 Books Before Kindergarten” challenge.
