Notice of Application of Larvicide for Mosquito Control in Bradford West Gwillimbury

Application within storm drains prevents mosquito larvae from maturing, without hurting other wildlife

From July 16 to August 24, 2019, the Town of BWG, under the authority of the Simcoe Muskoka Medical Officer of Health, will conduct a program to control mosquito larvae (immature mosquitoes) in standing water in order to prevent their development into potential carriers of West Nile virus. The program will be carried out across BWG and includes subdivisions of Golfview, Kilkenny Trail and Foster’s Forest and Emery Estates Subdivision.

The larvicide (Altosid Pellets PCP#21809, pellet formulation and Mosquiron 0.12CRD PCP#31079,) will be applied by direct hand application to catch basins of storm drains in the following area 8th Line to 6th Line and Holland River to Sideroad 10 & subdivisions noted above.

The product is a registered larvicide approved for use by the federal government. This application will be carried out by Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change licensed applicators or trained technicians. For details on the exact locations and date of treatment, call 905-778-2055.
