It’s GAME ON for kids with the TD Summer Reading Club! TD Summer Reading Club is Canada’s biggest summer reading program for kids of all ages, all interests and all abilities.

Last year was our first summer going virtual and the TD Summer Reading Club was a huge success; our readers ages 6 to 12 logged 34,181 minutes of reading (that is over 500 hours of reading) while our pre-readers logged over 550 books. This year we are still virtual, but our TD Summer Reading Club print materials are back and it’s even easier than ever to participate.

Track your summer reading using Beanstack for free by registering at bwglibrary.beanstack.com or downloading the mobile app.Once registered, you will receive details on how to pick up your TDSRC notebook, stickers, web access code and more! The first 100 picked up will receive a free craft kit, too.

For children under the age of five, parents can track their reading by logging books. You can even log the number of times you read a book. For children over the age of five, log the time spent reading – and all reading materials count – books, magazines, comics, eBooks, audiobooks and newspapers.

Studies have shown that summer library programs help children maintain the reading level and learning skills they achieved during the preceding school year.  With our Summer Reading Challenge, kids are encouraged to read for fun, which allows them to explore their individual interests and form good reading habits without even realizing it!

With Beanstack, you can do more than just track your reading. Earn badges for reading, as well as hitting various milestones, whether in books or minutes spent reading. You also can earn badges by submitting book reviews and engaging in other activities, such as making crafts and playing games. Last summer, our participants earned over 850 badges! For every badge you earn, your name is entered into a draw for cool prizes, including gift certificates for ice cream or treats at local businesses.

BWGPL’s TD Summer Reading Program offers you even more ways to participate and join in the fun – throughout the summer follow us on Facebook to find crafts, Storytimes and other fun activities for kids and families. Be sure to join our TDSRC Facebook groupfor the latest activities and contests.
