Bradford resident shares passion for healing with essential oils

In this week’s Midweek Mugging, Christina Schifitto of Pure Vibes by Christina promotes holistic living

What started out as a serious illness eventually turned into a business opportunity for Bradford West Gwillimbury resident Christina Schifitto.

While working in an intense and stressful career in the corporate world, Schifitto decided she needed a change. She quit her job in 2017 to focus on her health and realign her priorities.

“After living a life with a great deal of imbalance, I got sick,” she explained.

While trying to detoxify her body, she discovered the power of essential oils and began incorporating them into her everyday life.

“One of the things that assisted me greatly was using essential oils. It was one of the many things that helped,” she said.

From her new found passion for healing, she developed her own health and wellness business called Pure Vibes by Christina in August 2017.

Pure Vibes by Christina offers a variety of services including Vita Flex and Raindrop Technique massage, developed by the creators of Young Living Essential Oils. Schiffito is certified and trained to perform these therapeutic massages while using their essential oil line.

“My brand itself is about promoting holistic living,” Schifitto explained. “It’s more than just oils — it’s a lifestyle.”

Some of the products she makes with the oils include lip balms, body butters, bug sprays, and face creams. She prides herself on making sure all ingredients are natural and pure.

Raindrop and Vita Flex massage are therapies that focus on the spine.

The Raindrop Technique involves dropping essential oils along the spine and massaging across the back. This technique stimulates the nerves, which aims to assist with many issues such as sleep deprivation, digestion, and stress.

Similarly, Vita Flex, which means vitality through reflexes, also uses essential oils but focuses on the feet while still connecting to the spine.

When the oils are applied to specific reflex points, energy is released through the neurological pathways, aiming to allow for positive emotional and physical benefits for the body.

“There are many things we can do to help ourselves that don’t always require a drug intervention,” Schifitto said. “It’s wise if we can approach it from that standpoint first, depending on what the issue is.”

Schiffito is continuously seeking new ways to incorporate wellness into her life and sharing her knowledge with clients.

“It’s very important to model and live by example of what you are doing,” she explained. “(My) business is just evolving from what my life has become.”

Her goals for the new year include offering more workshops and completing her botanical beauty certification, as well as networking with more local businesses in the community.
