MedstarZ Family Health Centre officially opened its doors in downtown Bradford over the weekend.
Mayor Rob Keffer, members of council, the Bradford Board of Trade, and MP Scot Davidson were on site Saturday to congratulate Dr. Amir Zeinaly and his family on their official grand opening. Dr. Zeinaly (M.D), holds the Certification in the College of Family Physicians (CCFP).
Davidson presented Dr. Zeinaly with a certificate of congratulations, recognizing the hard work he put in to renovate the office building at 80 Holland St. E, to make it more modern and welcoming for patients.
"Congratulations on the grand opening of MedstarZ, your service to Bradford through your medical expertise will make our community a better place to live, work and play," said Davidson.
Coun. Jonathan Scott presented Dr. Zeinaly with a certificate of congratulations on behalf of York-Simcoe MPP Caroline Mulroney.
"Welcome to Ward 2," he said. "We are really grateful to have another doctor bringing medical services to the town."
Natasha Leskiw from the Bradford Board of Trade welcomed MedstarZ to the community and congratulated Dr. Zeinaly on the opening of his new practice.
"What you're offering in our town, with later walk-in hours, the possibility of home visits, that's the sort of stuff that keeps our community moving," she said. "Welcome to Bradford and thanks for locating here."
Mayor Keffer on behalf of council and the town, presented Dr. Zeinaly with a certificate of congratulations and thanked him for choosing Bradford to open his medical clinic, noting the demand for medical care has grown tremendously as the population increases.
"With such high demand for health service professionals, I have no doubt that this will be a busy and bustling medical practice," said the mayor.
The two-story medical office is owned by Dr. Larry Barcza, who has been practicing in Bradford since 1974.
"Healthcare is about to improve dramatically in Bradford," said Dr. Barcza. "I know Amir is going to do a wonderful job."
Earlier this year, Dr. Zeinaly received grant funding from the Downtown Community Improvement Program (DCIP) to help renovate the upper level of the clinic with modernized waiting and exam rooms. The renovations include new electrical, lighting, drywall, painting, plumbing, HVAC, flooring and doorways.
Dr. Zeinaly thanked everyone for attending the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday.
"Without your support and help, this wouldn't have happened," he said. "It's my honour to work in Bradford, I love this community, people are very friendly, you can always see a smile, and that's why I chose this location and this community."
MedstarZ officially opened to the public on Monday, Dec. 6. They are currently accepting new patients on a walk-in basis.
