Young Bradford and Innisfil hockey players are looking a lot like North Pole elves these days.
Thirteen members of the U14BB South Simcoe Storm navy team have been hard at work making ornaments and inspirational cards, which they’ll hand over to Southlake Foundation representatives, during a presentation at Upper Canada Mall in Newmarket Dec. 17. Those items will then be given to patients at the Southlake Regional Health Centre’s Stronach Regional Cancer Centre.
The goal is to bring a little happiness and hope to folks who are going through a tough time this holiday season.
"The holidays can be a hard time and not being with your family must be so much harder," defenceman Owen Palmer said.
Coaches wanted to give the players a tangible outlet to make a difference in their community.
“Sadly, we know of people fighting cancer and we hope these items can bring some joy to them,” goaltender Marco Marchese said.
The presentation takes place near the mall’s Market and Co. area at 3:30 p.m. For more information on the squad, visit southsimcoeminorhockey.ca. To donate to the foundation, go to southlake.ca/foundation.
