Police seeking witnesses to hit and run collision in Newmarket (Update)

Motorists are advised to avoid the area of Bayview and Mulock for the police investigation

UPDATE, Nov. 21: A youth has been apprehended by police in connection with the fail the remain at Bayview and Mulock in Newmarket. 

York Regional Police were called to the area at 6:20 p.m. Nov. 20 for reports of a collision between a red Hyundai and a blue Honda Civic. Two or three teenage male occupants of the Honda fled the scene. 

The driver of the Honda has since been arrested and officers found a BB gun in his bag, police said. Two youth are still outstanding. 

The driver of the Hyundai was attended to by York Region Paramedic Service on the scene, but it is not known if there were any injuries.

York Regional Police investigators are seeking witnesses to the fail to remain collision that occurred on Bayview Avenue in Newmarket Sunday evening.

The collision occurred prior to 7 p.m. Nov. 20 on Bayview, just south of Mulock Drive.

With traffic reduced to one lane, police are requesting motorists to avoid the area and seek an alternate route.
