Two Collingwood-based charities serving the area's pets and people will be benefitting from cookie sales at local Tim Hortons restaurants.

Starting tomorrow, Tim Hortons will be selling Smile Cookies again as part of the annual charity campaign. The Collingwood and Sunnidale Corners Tim Hortons will be donating proceeds from the cookie ($1.50 per cookie) to the Georgian Triangle Humane Society and Hospice Georgian Triangle.

“We are immensely grateful to our local Tim Hortons for their generous support through the Smile Cookie Campaign," said Karen Marsh, executive director for Georgian Triangle Humane Society, in a news release. "Their dedication to our cause is a testament to their commitment to making a positive impact to the pets and people in the south Georgian Bay region. Proceeds from the Smile Cookies will help to fund our Animal Hospital, Access to Care Services, Lifelong Learning Programs, and more. Thank you for standing with us in our mission to provide innovative programs and compassionate services that support the wellbeing of pets and people.”

This year, Collingwood Tim Hortons restaurants owned by the Trude family in Collingwood, are supporting these two local organizations. Tim Horton owners Ann Murphy and Amy Bennett of the Sunnidale Corners location will be dedicating Smile Cookie proceeds to the GTHS.

Sarah Trude said Smile Cookie week is a favourite of hers and the whole team.

"It feels like the whole town is in it together, excited to support our incredible community," said Trude in a news release.

Murphy and Bennett said they're excited to start the 28th-annual Smile Cookie campaign.

The Smile Cookie campaign starts April 29 and runs to May 5, pre-orders are welcome.

“The Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation is incredibly grateful to the Tim Hortons’ staff for their ongoing commitment to compassionate end-of-life care for patients and their families in our community," said Sandra Sullivan, executive director of Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation, also in a news release.

On Tuesday, April 30 from noon to 1 p.m., at 186 Hurontario Street, representatives from the Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation and the GTHS will host a special pop-up cookie sale.
