I, Munawar Chudary, am announcing my candidacy for Ward 5 councillor. Area-wise, Ward 5 is half of Bradford, the biggest and an important ward of Bradford West Gwillimbury, with a mix of strong urban, rural and farming community.

It would be a great privilege for me to represent you and fight to protect your best interests at BWG council. Yes, it takes a tremendous investment of time, but I am hoping many of you will remember my nine-plus consecutive years as a dedicated community volunteer and community builder (Civic Award Winner). I was, and I will remain, tireless.

Like many of us, I came to Canada as an immigrant and chose to settle here. Living in Ward 5 of Bradford West Gwillimbury, I had the opportunity to start my own business, to raise a family and to prosper. I have been fortunate enough to be able to give back to my community.

Some of my volunteer service in our BWG community:

  • Member of town’s Heritage Committee 2011 to 2018
  • Established Run for Bradford and chaired event from 2011 to 2015
  • Organizer of Community First — Helping Hands for Community. Established program so needy people can eat free at Hero Certified Burgers in Bradford
