Feels Like Home : Transforming Your Space from Uninspiring to Uniquely Yours, by Marian Parsons

Discover how to achieve your dream home on an affordable budget using these inspiring pictures, practical tips, and easy-to-implement tutorials.

Most of us don’t live in a dream home that was custom built to suit our tastes. We have to work with a house that brings its own style, quirks, and personality to the table. But imagine walking into this house, but it’s perfectly designed and decorated with your style in mind—a home that fits you like a well-tailored outfit and yet is as comfy as your favorite pair of pajamas.

What would that home look like exactly? How would it feel to live in a home styled specifically for you?

The truth is, every home should feel like a custom home and not have to break the bank. In Feels Like Home, DIY makeover queen Marian Parsons (a.k.a. Miss Mustard Seed) teaches you what she’s learned over the years, sharing budget-friendly practical tips that will inspire you to change your space from “blah” to beautiful, from a builder-grade to character-rich home.

A pop of color : inspiring ideas to bring color into your home, by Geraldine James

Makeover your home using these straightforward, fun, simple, and low-cost ideas to bring a POP of color into your interior spaces using paint, wallpaper, flowers, plants, pillows, or throws. It could transform your life too.

Geraldine James' practical solutions offer those who are not confident enough to embark on expensive renovations, with ways to redecorate that can be easily reversed. Encouraging us to experiment, she looks at different ways you can bring color into the home starting with adding single pops of color in a neutral space, such as red pillows, plates, bowls, and rugs in a living space; then she looks at color walls, painting a single wall with a bright color, which can really lift a room without much investment (and you can always repaint if you change your mind). Or bring living color into a room using flowers and houseplants, terrariums and succulents. Or why not go for a multi-colored look with checks, stripes or floral patterns whether that is by papering a wall, or painting a floor—the effects can be bold and uplifting. Textiles too can bring a softer textural layer of color to a room while wall art can bring a focal point. Whatever your choice of color palette, Geraldine will offer the perfect solution so get experimenting now.
