15 new COVID cases, including three youth under 18, in Simcoe-Muskoka today

The region's health unit has confirmed 15 new COVID-19 cases in Simcoe County and Muskoka District since Friday. 

A Wasaga Beach man between 65 and 79 years old is among the cases reported today. His is the 21st case reported from Wasaga Beach. 

Among the new cases are three youth under the age of 18, one from Barrie and two from New Tecumseth. One of the New Tecumseth cases is under investigation, the other two youth cases are reported as close contact transmission. 

There are seven more cases confirmed in Barrie including four men and one woman between the ages of 18 and 34 years old, one woman between 65 and 79 years old, and one man between 45 and 64 years old. Three of the Barrie cases are close contact transmission, the remainder are under investigation. 

There is one new case in Orillia, a man between 18 and 34 years old, and the transmission source is under investigation. 

In addition to the two youths from New Tecumseth, there is also a case in a man between 18 and 34 years old. The transmission source is under investigation. 

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has also confirmed an institutional outbreak-related case in a woman between 45 and 64 from Bracebridge. The health unit has declared a COVID-19 outbreak once again at The Pines Long-Term Care Residence in Bracebridge. An outbreak declared previously and involving a resident and a staff member, was declared over on Sept. 16. This new outbreak was declared Sept. 19. 

One more case of COVID-19 in a Bracebridge resident was reported today - a woman between 45 and 64 years old. The transmission source for her case is under investigation.

Today the health unit also removed two cases, one from Innisfil and one from Gravenhurst, as those individuals have been assigned to other health units.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 816 cases of COVID-19, with 700 of those now listed as recovered. There are two people hospitalized in Simcoe County with COVID-19 (one from Barrie and one from Bradford). Thirty-eight people have died.

The health unit indicates there are 72 unrecovered cases in Simcoe County.
