To the residents of York-Simcoe,

Throughout Canadian history, generations have faced challenges that at times seem unsurmountable. During times like these, we must remain resilient in the face of adversity.

The Premier of Ontario, his Cabinet, and the entire PC Caucus are working diligently with federal and municipal governments to develop an evolving response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As your Member of Provincial Parliament, your health and well-being are my top priority.

Since elected as your voice at Queen’s Park, I have had many opportunities to witness the incredible community spirit and contributions of the residents of King, East Gwillimbury, Georgina and Bradford-West Gwillimbury. As a community, your response to the COVID-19 pandemic is without a doubt, nothing short of exemplary, and I am proud to represent you.

Mayors and members of municipal council across York-Simcoe have shown tremendous leadership by working around the clock enacting the guidelines and protocols developed by our provincial and federal governments, under the advice of Dr. David Williams, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health and Dr. Theresa Tam, The Chief Public Health Officer of Canada. All efforts continue at the municipal level to support York-Simcoe’s essential services.

The business community across the province has responded to the COVID-19 pandemic by offering to re-focus their efforts to contribute to the manufacturing and distribution of goods that directly support frontline healthcare workers. I want to acknowledge the many businesses in York-Simcoe that have had to close their doors temporarily to combat the spread of COVID-19. I also want to acknowledge the many people who have lost their jobs. The Ontario government has passed legislation to provide job-protected leave to employees, and I will continue to look for ways I can best support you.

I want to take this opportunity to thank our local service clubs, shelter providers, food banks, community organizations and places of worship that have come forward to help. To the first responders, personal support workers, the nurses, the doctors, cleaning staff and the staff across every facility that people are counting on right now – Thank you. You are heroes.

Our success as a community in containing COVID-19 depends on all of us doing our part to flatten the curve. This situation will be temporary.  Our community in York-Simcoe has an abundance of patience, empathy, kindness and cooperation. These characteristics will lead us through the adversities of this time.

Let’s all continue to look out for one another. Please be safe, continue to social distance and contact me or my Constituency office team at 905-895-1555 or by emailing [email protected]. We are here to help and available to answer your questions. My website www.carolinemulroney.ca features a daily update on the actions the province is taking to address the COVID-19 pandemic.
