Message from Mayor Rob Keffer:
COVID-19 update – June 12, 2020

Staff at the Town of BWG have been extremely busy this week reviewing the province’s Stage 2 orders. Our goal is to help the community in every way we can to safely take the next steps towards reopening.

Many of you are eagerly awaiting news on splash pads. We have applied to the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit for the mandatory inspection and are told it will take about two weeks. As soon as that is completed we will announce a date for opening. New procedures will be in place and signs will be installed to advise residents of how to use water-play areas safely.

Staff are also working on a plan for reopening sports fields (including soccer and baseball fields) for team training purposes and will be communicating with local sports organizations about the new protocols.

Curbside pick-up begins at the Library next week – to take advantage of this just go to their website (http://bradford.library.on.ca) and reserve the materials you want, then wait for a phone call to arrange a timeslot for pick-up. Once on site, follow the signs and instructions for a no-contact pick-up. Library staff have worked hard to put together a process that is both simple and safe and are looking forward to serving you in a non-virtual way once again.

On Tuesday, Council will review a report on a program for temporary patios and patio expansions to allow bars and restaurants to use public sidewalks and private parking lots for outdoor dining areas. The report will also make recommendations on how we can prioritize the needs of pedestrians in our downtown core. We look forward to supporting local businesses so that they can serve more customers safely.

Don’t forget to get ready for Canada Day with our window decorating contest. All the details on the contest and virtual celebration are available here: www.townofbwg.com/canadaday

Best,
Rob Keffer
