The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has confirmed 17 new COVID-19 cases today, bringing the total for the week to 121 cases.
Among the new cases reported today are six Barrie residents, including a girl under 18 whose case is linked to close contact. Also on the list of Barrie cases are two men between 18 and 34 years old, a man between 35 and 44 years, old and a man and a woman between 45 and 64 years old. Two cases are linked to close contact and the other three are still under investigation.
There are four new cases in Bradford West-Gwillimbury today, including a girl under 18, a woman between 18 and 34 years old, a woman between 45 and 64 years old, and a man between 65 and 79 years old. The man's case is community-acquired and the rest of the cases are under investigation.
There are two new cases in Tay Township and one in Tiny Township today, too. Two Tay residents, a man between 18 and 34 years old and a woman between 65 and 79 years old have tested positive for COVID-19. The transmission sources for both cases are still under investigation. A man between 45 and 64 years old from Tiny Township has also contracted the coronavirus. His case is reported as community-acquired.
Twelve of the 21 total cases confirmed in Tay have been reported in October and November.
Six of the 13 total cases confirmed in Tiny Township have been reported in the last three weeks (since Oct. 15).
The remaining four cases reported by the health unit today include one Essa woman between 45 and 64 years old, an Innisfil man between 65 and 79 years old, a New Tecumseth man between 18 and 34 years old, and a New Tecumseth woman between 45 and 64 years old. The Innisfil man's case is linked to close contact and the other three cases are still under investigation.
A case previously reported in Innisfil has been removed from the health unit list as it "did not meet the case definition upon further investigation."
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 1,474 cases of COVID-19, with 1,390 of those in Simcoe County. There are 1,210 cases listed as recovered. Five people are currently hospitalized. The health unit has recorded 50 deaths.
The incidence rate for Simcoe County is 263 cases per 100,000 people.
