NEWS RELEASE
MATTHEWS HOUSE HOSPICE
*************************
Hello to our community,

At this time of great concern, we sincerely hope that you and your loved ones are in good health.

In terms of Matthews House Hospice, we can assure you that we are following the Ontario Ministry of Health guidance and have put strict measures in place to protect residents, staff and visitors. If you currently have a relative in residence with us at the hospice, please feel free to contact us with any concerns you may have, or to discuss our new protocol for visitors.

Our volunteer family has rallied to help us through by providing endless baked treats, daily soups and sandwiches and wonderful stories of compassion.

As well as protecting patients, staff and visitors, we must also consider the financial implications of the virus and the potentially damaging impact on Matthews House Hospice.

As you may know, we have had to suspend our programs and a number of staff have had to go into self-isolation. This impacts our in home support, community programs, wellness programs and those dealing with loss.

Regrettably, this has had a detrimental effect on our finances.

Our Hike for Hospice set for Sunday, May 3 is being rescheduled to Sunday, July 26 and will be planned with safety measures in place. We urge you to continue to gather pledges from friends and family. Our goal is a lofty $150,000. As you know, those funds will go directly to continue our services and we are confident we can achieve that goal with your continued support.

We are enormously proud of our role in the community and our dedication to providing a homelike, caring environment for people living with a terminal illness.

We are determined that come what may we must continue to provide the same levels of personal, round-the-clock care, not only during the current crisis but long into the future as well.

We hope you are in a position to help ensure this is the case by supporting everything we do here at Matthews House Hospice. Thank you and much gratitude from all of us at Matthews House Hospice.

We will continue to provide updates as they come. Stay safe. We are here for you, please call us anytime 705 435 7218.

Sincerely,
Matthews House Hospice
