A statement from MPP Caroline Mulroney:

Throughout Canadian history, generations have faced challenges that at times seem insurmountable. During times like these, we remain resilient in the face of adversity, tackling challenges with co-operation, ingenuity and determination.

Frontline healthcare workers are facing the COVID-19 pandemic head-on, and they deserve any and all support we can provide them as they work to keep our communities healthy and safe.

I am calling on the business community of York-Simcoe to use the Canadian spirit of co-operation, ingenuity and determination to support Ontario’s COVID-19 Crisis Response.

Yesterday, Premier Doug Ford and Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health launched Ontario Together, a new website that will help businesses and their employees work with the province to meet the challenges of COVID-19. This initiative will remove barriers allowing Ontario's manufacturing sector to redeploy capacity towards the production of essential equipment like ventilators, masks and swabs.

Ontario Together will help ensure our healthcare system and front-line health care workers are equipped to protect the health and well-being of the people of Ontario. A local Aurora company, Magna International have offered to look at ways they can assist. Whether your company is a small business or a large manufacturer, I encourage you to ask yourself, “Is there something my company can do to help?”

Ontario Together will identify the province's supply challenges and solicit ideas and advice from Ontario's business and manufacturing communities on how the government can work together to meet the need. Through the portal, companies will be able to submit proposals for the government to procure required goods and services and share creative solutions quickly.

Dr. David Williams, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, along with local doctors have expressed strong caution that if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID -19, you should please contact your primary care provider first by phone or Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000. Please do not visit an assessment centre unless you have been referred by a health care professional.

My website features a daily update on actions the province is taking to address the COVID-19 pandemic. We are here to help and are available to answer your questions. Please contact my Constituency Team at 905-895-1555 or by emailing [email protected].
