One new COVID-19 case reported in Bradford today

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has confirmed five new cases of COVID-19 today, bringing the total number of cases reported in the region this week to 19.

There were two new cases reported out of Barrie today.

One of the new cases is a Barrie woman in her 50s who is reported to have acquired the coronavirus through community transmission. The second is a woman in her 20s whose transmission is under investigation. 

Yesterday, the health unit also reported a woman in her 20s from Barrie tested positive for COVID-19, however today they have removed her from the list. According to health unit officials, it turned out the woman does not have the coronavirus.

There’s a new case out of Bradford West-Gwillimbury, a man in his 50s whose case is listed as community-acquired. This is the first case reported in Bradford since May 29.

The other two cases reported today include a woman in her 20s from Essa whose case transmission is undetermined, and a man in his 60s from Penetanguishene whose transmission is still under investigation.

To-date, Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported 486 cases of COVID-19 in the region, including 410 recoveries and 36 deaths attributed to the coronavirus. There are six people in hospital and 34 people recovering at home.

The incidence rate (including lab-confirmed cases only) for Simcoe County is 88.6 cases per 100,000 people. The provincial average is 200.1 cases per 100,000 population.

The case breakdown by municipality, according to the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, is as follows:

  • Barrie (157 total cases, 131 recoveries, 14 deaths)
  • Bradford West Gwillimbury (101 total cases, 85 recoveries, 12 deaths)
  • New Tecumseth (51 total cases, 43 recoveries, two in hospital, one death)
  • Innisfil (38 total cases, 32 recoveries, two in hospital)
  • Orillia (17 total cases, 14 recoveries, two deaths, one in hospital)
  • Collingwood (15 total cases, all recovered)
  • Wasaga Beach (13 total cases, 12 recoveries, one death)
  • Clearview (seven total cases, six recoveries, one death)
  • Springwater (nine total cases, seven recoveries, one death)
  • Midland (six total cases, all recovered)
  • Oro-Medonte (six total cases, three recoveries, two deaths)
  • Adjala-Tosorontio (seven total cases, all recovered)
  • Essa (14 total cases, 11 recoveries, one death)
  • Ramara (seven total cases, all recovered)
  • Tiny (three total cases, all recovered)
  • Tay (five total cases, all recovered)
  • Penetanguishene (five total cases, three recovered)
  • Severn (six total cases, three recovered)
