NEWS RELEASE
TOWN OF BRADFORD WEST GWILLIMBURY

Tennis and pickleball:

Following the province’s announcement of Stage 1 openings, the Town is preparing the courts at the Bradford and District Memorial Community Centre, Bradford Lions Park and Henderson Memorial Park for opening starting Friday, May 22. Signs will be posted with specific rules that must be followed in order to use the facilities.

Sports fields:

Starting Friday, May 22, the Town of BWG is permitting recreational use of skate parks, baseball diamonds and soccer/sports fields within municipal parks, with the following rules:

  • casual recreation only; no team play or organized events
  • no gatherings of more than 5 people (who aren’t from the same household)
  • physical distancing of 2 metres is required at ALL times (between people not of the same household)
  • use of picnic tables and benches is permitted
  • use of all amenities is at your own risk – surfaces are not sanitized

Still closed:

Basketball courts, water-play areas, playgrounds and washrooms remain closed until further notice.

Future openings:

Over the next several months, it is anticipated that the Town will receive permission to reopen other types of facilities and services.

With each lessening of restrictions, staff will consider the safest way to allow residents back into these facilities. In every case, this will likely require new signs, staffing adjustments and setting guidelines to ensure the safety for all.

For this reason, we ask for your patience and understanding as we await further direction from the province and health authorities to undertake the ramp-up process.

Enforcement:

For inquiry or complaint, call 905-775-5366 ext. 1701.
