You can still tee up to support CHATS (Community and Home Assistance to Seniors) in York Region and South Simcoe as its annual golf tournament takes on a new format during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Although the Sept. 14 Tim Jones' Charity Golf Classic tournament has been cancelled due to physical distancing requirements, you can register to golf at any time you prefer Monday to Friday (excluding holidays) at Silver Lake Golf and Country Club until Oct. 31, 2020, with proceeds supporting CHATS.

Registration of $125 includes golf cart rental (based on availability), a charitable tax receipt for $60, entry into a prize raffle and a swag bag. An online auction will take place throughout the week of Sept. 14.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, CHATS has continued to provide essential services to local seniors, including Meals on Wheels, medication and prescription delivery, grocery shopping, respite care, safety checks and transportation.

With the suspension of many of CHATS’ community-based programs, hundreds of seniors have been experiencing new levels of isolation, and the aftermath of the pandemic will leave even more clients vulnerable and at risk, organizers said.

Money raised this year will help seniors access the care they require now and as we move into the post-pandemic stage.

You can register online or download a registration form here. Following registration, a numbered golf voucher will be sent to you by email by the next business day. Let the staff at Silver Lakes know you are golfing with a voucher when you book your tee time and present your voucher on arrival.

Sponsorship opportunities are available, and donations of prizes for the online auction are also welcome.
