Three Bradford youth among 17 new COVID cases reported in Simcoe County today

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has confirmed 17 new COVID-19 cases in Simcoe County residents today. 

There are three new cases in Bradford West Gwillimbury today, and all are under 18 years old. The new cases include two girls and a boy, and all the cases are still under investigation. 

A Clearview man between 18 and 34 years old is among then new cases included in today's report. His case is linked to close contact. 

There are nine new cases in Barrie today, including three boys and one girl under 18. One of their cases is linked to close contact and the other three are still under investigation. 

The other five Barrie cases include a woman between 35 and 44 years old whose case is linked to a workplace outbreak, a man between 18 and 34 years old whose case is linked to close contact, and three woman – one between 18 and 34 years old, one between 35 and 44 years old, and one between 45 and 64 years old – whose cases are under investigation. 

One case previously reported in Barrie was removed from the health unit list after further investigation determined it did not meet case definition, the health unit reported.

There is one new case in Orillia today, which the first reported this month. The case is a woman between 18 and 34 years old whose transmission source is under investigation. 

The remaining three Simcoe County cases include an Essa boy under 18 (close contact), an Innisfil man between 35 and 44 years old (community-acquired), and a New Tecumseth man between 45 and 64 years old (under investigation). 

In the local region, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 1,560 cases of COVID-19, with 1,478 of those in Simcoe County. There are 1,360 cases listed as recovered in the region. Eight people are currently hospitalized, and of those seven are Simcoe County residents. The health unit has recorded 50 deaths.

The incidence rate for Simcoe County is 280 cases per 100,000 people.
