A crowd of library workers, union members and supporters of striking workers of the Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library are shown at a rally Aug. 1.

I would like to know how we can give the CEO of the library a raise of $6,613 in the year 2021, which is $127.17 per week, and a raise of $9,846 in the year 2022, which is $189.35 per week, and we can’t give the people who actually work at the library $1.35 per hour.

I don’t blame the library staff at all. Time to find someone else who will work with the staff and no more people will leave as we have seen over the last few years. We have lost some good employees, to the detriment of the library.

The library board and the council need to stop this now and get our library open again. We, the taxpayers, are paying all the wages for the council, the CEO of the library and the library staff. It’s time our money is put to good use and pay the staff a decent wage.

A disgusted taxpayer,

Nancy Young
