To all those complaining about the new highways going in our province, you’re in the minority. The vast majority of Ontario citizens favour these new freeways because they actually use the roads and are constantly stuck in gridlock. You might be able to work from home or are fortunate enough to live close to where you work, or you might be retired and use our roads during off-peak hours, but not everyone is in the same boat.
As far as your constant whining about the extra pollution it will cause, have you not smelled the fumes of idling cars and trucks stuck for hours because our famous Liberals cancelled these highways when they took over control of our province? Furthermore, aren’t we all going to be driving electric vehicles by the time they’re finished building them? Some claim the highways will only save seconds off the usual commute; I disagree. Drive through these roads at rush hour and tell me that a freeway wouldn’t save more than seconds, not to mention the fumes.
People need to get out and actually see what’s happening out there instead of complaining for the sake of it without seeing why these roads are needed.
René Lessard, New Tecumseth
